At KBA Sixth Form, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. Each year, our Year 12 students take part in individually-organised work shadowing placements, giving them a unique opportunity to explore the world of work and gain first-hand experience in a field they’re passionate about.
Over the course of a week, students immerse themselves in professional environments, learning about the expectations, responsibilities, and skills required in their chosen career areas. These placements help students build confidence, develop employability skills, and make informed decisions about their future pathways.
From law firms and hospitals to engineering companies and creative studios, our students have explored a wide range of industries - and come away inspired.
Here are just a few examples of recent placements:
- Assisting in a primary school classroom
- Observing patient care in a local GP surgery
- Supporting marketing teams in a digital agency
- Shadowing solicitors in a legal practice
- Working alongside engineers on live projects
Work shadowing is a key part of our careers and enrichment programme, helping students bridge the gap between education and employment. In the past some of our students have gained employment and/or apprenticeships through some of their work shadowing placements.
