Why Attendance Matters in Sixth Form

At KBA Sixth Form, consistent attendance is essential for success. Sixth Form study is a significant step up from GCSEs, and every lesson counts. Missing even a small amount of time can lead to gaps in understanding, missed deadlines, and increased pressure.

Why It’s Important:

• Academic Progress: Lessons build on each other. Regular attendance ensures students stay up to date with content, coursework, and exam preparation.
• Independence & Responsibility: Sixth Form is a bridge to adulthood. Good attendance reflects maturity, commitment, and readiness for university or employment.
• Support & Guidance: Being present means students can access academic help, pastoral care, and careers advice when they need it.
• UCAS & References: Attendance records are considered when writing references. High attendance shows reliability and a strong work ethic.
• Community & Belonging: Regular attendance helps students stay connected with peers and staff, contributing to a positive and productive learning environment.

1. Establish a Routine
   Go to bed and wake up at consistent times. A solid morning routine helps avoid lateness and missed days.
2. Stay Organised

   If you're struggling with workload, health, or personal issues, speak to your tutor or the Sixth Form team. Early support can prevent attendance from slipping.

5. Minimise Distractions
   Avoid scheduling appointments or part-time work during school hours. Prioritise your education during term time.
