Starting Sixth Form - September 2025

Welcome to the KBA Sixth Form preparation page. Here you’ll find all the summer assignments we are asking prospective Sixth Form students to complete.

You should only complete the assignments for the three or four subjects you intend to study from September. Each subject includes two tasks, with full details provided in the subject-specific guidance documents.

Deadline: All tasks must be submitted during your first lesson back after the summer holidays.

In addition to the assignments, this page also includes a range of useful resources:

  • Information on this year’s exam process
  • Careers guidance
  • Helpful academic links and materials to support your transition to post-16 study

These resources are available to all Year 11 students, whether you plan to join KBA Sixth Form or have secured a place elsewhere.

Start of Term 2025

We’re delighted to congratulate all the students who have met their conditional offers and will be joining KBA Sixth Form this September. We look forward to welcoming you and supporting you on the next exciting stage of your educational journey.

This is an opportunity to find out more about the start of term and also meet the sixth form tutor team.

Start of Term: Thursday 4th September

Students should arrive at the academy for an 8:30am start.

Members of the Sixth Form team will be on hand to welcome you as you arrive and will direct you to the canteen, where the morning will begin.

We look forward to seeing you and starting the new academic year together.

To ensure a smooth start, please make sure you arrive prepared:

  • Dress Code: Please arrive in appropriate Sixth Form attire. A copy of the dress code has been emailed to students and is also available on our Sixth Form Policies page.
  • Stationery: Bring pens and any other stationery you’ll need for lessons
  • Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch. As this is your first day, you won’t yet be able to purchase food from the canteen. Please note that KBA is a cashless site.

We look forward to welcoming you and starting the year positively!

Lockers and Lanyards

Lockers are available to purchase for student use. Full details, including pricing and how to apply, can be found on our here.

Summer Bridging Work – Sixth Form Applicants

All applicants are expected to complete their summer bridging work in preparation for Year 12.

This work is designed to support a smooth transition into Sixth Form and help students understand the academic expectations of their chosen courses.

Here are the links to these

Bridging tasks also enable subject teachers to assess students’ starting points and identify any additional support or guidance that may be needed early on. It’s also a valuable opportunity for students to explore their subject choices—some may decide to adjust their options based on their experience with the tasks.

Deadline: All bridging work must be submitted during your first lesson back at the start of term in September.

Applications to the KBA Sixth Form

If you have applied for a place at the KBA Sixth Form for the new academic year, thank you. Following your interview with a member of the Sixth Form team, you will have received your conditional offer letter and hopefully confirmed acceptance of your place by returning the reply slip to the Sixth Form team.

I wanted to reassure you, that your place at the KBA Sixth Form has been reserved for you. Your place is guaranteed, dependant on you meeting the general and subject entry requirements from your GCSE results which will be issued on 25th August. The plans for this day will be communicated with you by letter before the end of the summer term.

This section of the website relates directly to our Sixth Form, specifically for our new Year 12 cohort. It will be here that we you will find all of the subject transition tasks which you will need to hand to teachers in your first Year 12 lesson.

I would also like to remind you of the business dress code which you are required to wear as a member of the KBA Sixth Form and I have included a copy of the dress code letter below which has further details and guidelines.

If you have any questions about your place at the KBA Sixth form, your subject choices or you require another copy of your conditional offer letter with reply slip, please feel free to email me at samshaw@kba.uk. Similarly, please also get in touch if you would still like to apply for a place in our Sixth Form.

We are all very excited to welcome you into the KBA Sixth Form as our new Year 12 cohort and in the meantime, have a wonderful summer and we will see you on GCSE results day.
