Sixth Form Dress Code

Kettering Buccleuch Academy expects Sixth Form students to act as role models and maintain a high standard of business-like dress. The acceptable standards are determined at the discretion of the Sixth Form team, and students failing to meet these standards may be sent home to change.

General Requirements

• Lanyards must be always worn while onsite.
• Hair must be a natural colour and not extreme in style.
• Headphones and mobile phones must not be visible outside of the Sixth Form areas.

Male Dress Code

A smart suit consisting of a tailored jacket and trousers is required.

• A collared shirt must be worn and always tucked in.
• Ties or bow ties must be worn with the collared shirt.
• Tailored jacket must be worn at all times when moving around the building and in formal situations such as assemblies.
• Fine-knit V-neck jumpers or cardigans are acceptable and worn with you tailored jacket.
• Footwear must be dark-coloured polishable leather, leather-look, or suede.

Female Dress Code

• A formal suit blazer or jacket is required.
• Suit blazer must be always worn when moving around the academy and during formal situations like assemblies.
• Students must wear tailored smart trousers, a tailored knee-length skirt, or a knee-length dress.
• A blouse, formal shirt, or smart top must be worn.
• Footwear must be dark-coloured polishable leather, leather-look, or suede.

Unacceptable Items

• Sheer, low-cut, crop, off-the-shoulder, or thin-strapped tops.
• Shorts, leggings, or jeggings.
• Denim, hoodies, and tracksuits.
• Tight or revealing outfits.
• Soiled, frayed, ripped, or faded clothing.
• Over-sized brand names, slogans, or logos.
• Coats worn inside the academy building.
• Hats of any kind inside the academy.
• Facial piercings and visible tattoos.
• Extreme hairstyles.
• Stiletto heels, trainers, canvas shoes (including Converse or skater shoes), Ugg boots, flip flops, and casual sandals (such as Birkenstock).
