Student Voice

At Kettering Buccleuch Academy we are proud of the student voice.

It enables our students to be heard and have their opinions and thoughts viewed. The fulcrum for the student voice is the student school council which consists of members from each year group whom are the ambassadors for that year and students can pass on their ideas directly to them.

All of our student council members are here to represent you and the student voice...

If you with for your VOICE to be heard, then please speak to your representative and they will include it on the agenda for the following scheduled meeting...

You can also have your VOICE heard by e-mailing studentvoice@kba.uk

If you have any concerns regarding student well-being or bullying, email reportconcern@kba.uk

Team of the Year

Throughout the academic year students are provided with a range of surveys to get their student voice heard and this can lead to changes within the academy. An example of this is the purchase of re-cycling bins for the academy to reduce our carbon footprint.

Over the last academic year, we are proud that the student council were named ‘Team of the year’ at the United Learning Best In Everyone Awards.

Student Voice Secondary School of the Year

We are honoured and delighted that for the past 2 years we have been named student voice secondary school of the year.

This is a fantastic achievement of which we are rightly proud of.

This was a tough national competition. There were three fantastic judges, James Cathcart from Young Voices Heard, Nic Ponsford from the Global Equality Collective and Annie Waddington from UK Parliament.

Please find below comments about your nomination from the judges:

This nomination was packed with examples of regular opportunities for students to have a say and be heard, with evidence of change brought about by student-led campaigns which were subsequently adopted, notably "Bin the Banter", "No Cars on Site" and "Park and Stride". There is a strong culture of nurturing student voice and influence for the benefit of all. Well done.
