Open Evening

We will be delighted to welcome students and their parents/carers, who are considering their future educational options to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 14th November. Doors will open at 5.45pm where you will be warmly invited to attend one of our talks starting at 6.15pm or 7.15pm. The talks will be lead by Mr Di Salvo, Principal of KBA, as well as members of the Sixth Form Leadership team and our Deputy Head Boy and Girl. In addition to the talks, there will be plenty of opportunities to circulate around the individual subject stalls to gather information about the broad range of subjects we offer for Key Stage 5 students. Both staff and current Sixth Form students will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Following the Open Evening, the application process for a place in the KBA Sixth Form will go live. Access to the online application form, the 2020 prospectus and subject option blocks can be accessed here:-

At Kettering Buccleuch Academy, there is a shared commitment to ensuring that every one of our A Level students achieves success.  Strong leadership, high quality teaching and rigorous standards are at the heart of this commitment with an expectation that students arrive with a thirst for learning and the necessary self-motivation and hard-work ethic to succeed.

A Levels are the academic passport to the next stage of an important journey and we therefore recognise the importance of the transition to Key Stage 5 in a young person’s life.

The culture of diligence and ambition experienced at Key Stage 4 is further developed within a business like environment that fully prepares students for success at university or the workplace.  The KBA Sixth Form experience immerses students in fantastic facilities, including the use of their own designated study areas whilst maintaining constant access to the support of the whole school community.

Our academy is a friendly environment with a core ethos of hard work and student effort. A Level students at KBA are highly successful and the results of 2018/19 are testament to this.76% of students achieved an A*-C grade and within this, 43% achieved the higher grades of A*-B. Based on ALPS 2019, our ALPS Grade 2, places us in the top 10% of schools nationally.

We offer a wide range of academic and vocational courses alongside a package of enrichment opportunities, which will maximise students’ successes when gaining entry to Russell Group or Top Third universities.  Dedicated support with UCAS applications and personal statements are strengths of the KBA Sixth Form as you will receive excellent support provided by specialist staff with proven success at helping students achieve places at top universities.  Each student has access to highly experienced personal tutors and Heads of Department to support with applications for further studies, jobs and apprenticeships.

In the KBA Sixth Form, students will have the freedom to express themselves as young adults, whilst still receiving all the support, academic rigour and guidance necessary to guide them through Key Stage 5.  We are very proud of our Sixth Form students and invest significantly to give them the most robust academic experience possible.  Our dedicated Sixth Form team and teachers provide thorough academic and pastoral support and because we are acutely aware that the aspirations of every student is different, our tutoring and pastoral systems ensure that individual needs are fully met.

We look forward to meeting you on 14th November.
