Students will study the AQA A level Chemistry course (7405). This course covers aspects of chemistry which build on the core ideas covered at GCSE. The main sections of the course are:
- Physical chemistry
- Bonding
- Thermodynamics
- Kinetics
- Inorganic chemistry
- Periodicity
- Properties of elemental groups
- Organic chemistry
- Introduction to key organic compounds
- Analysis of organic compounds
- Organic synthesis
Alongside this, students will also be taught relevant practical skills through a variety of practical based activities, which includes twelve required practical tasks to gain the accreditation in this area.
Independent study: Students will be required to complete 6 – 8 hours of independent study as directed by their teachers, which will include pre-reading, consolidation of work covered in lessons and exam practice tasks.
