Open Evening 2023

If you are the parent or carer of a child in Year 6, our Open Evening will take place on Thursday 28th September.

Further information about our Open Evening can be found on the flyer below.

We look forward to meeting parents, carers and prospective students at this event.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to book a place at your Open Evening?

No. Our Open Evening is open to all parents and carers of students who will be seeking a place in Year 7 in September 2024.

What time does your Open Evening start?

Doors will be opened at 5:45pm but you are able to arrive at any time up to 7:30pm. Our advice is to be mindful of the fact that one of the most important parts of the evening is the Principal's Presentation and to plan your visit around these.

What is the Principal's Presentation?

This is when Mr Di Salvo will communicate clear messages about the acdemy to prospective parents and carers. There are 3 times in the evening when these will take place; 6:00pm, 6:45pm and 7:30pm. The presentation is the same at each of these times.

Please be aware that these presentations take place in the KBA Theatre and there is a seating capacity of 380 for each presentation. The first presentation is always very busy so you may prefer to look around the building first and then attend one of the later presentations.

What will I see at Open Evening?

You will be able to make your own way around our building in order to visit different subject areas and meet our amazing staff. There will be activities taking place that children can join in with. You will also be able to visit our Sports Hall and astroturf where members of the PE department will be conducting activities.

You will also be able to meet staff from our SEND and Welfare teams as well as our Student Voice representatives.

What is an Academy In Action Tour?

We know the importance of choosing the right school for your child. We also know that an Open Evening is a great introduction to a school but it does not show what happens during a typical school day. Academy In Action tours allow you to experience this.

Academy In Action Tours will be taking place every day from Monday 2nd October until the half term break.

Tours take approximately 90 minutes and include visits to classrooms where students can be seen working.

How can I book a place on an Academy In Action tour?

If you attend Open Evening you will be able to sign up for an Academy in Action tour on the night. You will also be able to book a place on a tour after the Open Evening via this page of our website. This facility will become available from Friday 29th September.

Can I bring my child to an Academy In Action tour?

Yes, we are more than happy to welcome Year 6 students as well as their parents. The tours take place during the school day so please inform your child's primary school that they will not be in school whilst visiting us here at KBA.

If I am unable to attend Open Evening is there any way I can look around your building?

Yes. You are able to take your own virtual tour of our building by clicking on the image below.

The deadline for completion of your application form for a secondary school place closes at 5:00pm on 31st October 2023.
